“It’s not about ideas. It’s about making ideas happen.” – Scott Belsky
I can’t afford one. I can’t code. I don’t know how they work. Will it even really benefit the business? Don’t they require a lot of maintenance? Shouldn’t I rather focus on just selling my product first and worry about things like a website later?
Well I don’t know about you but these were definitely some of the questions I found myself asking when I considered getting my first business website done, and look at me now…. I now run a business that prides itself in making affordable websites for other entrepreneurs. I think you know exactly where I am going to with this one (p.s. its about why websites are still so important for your business…
Because only old people and small businesses don’t
Guys it’s 2017. If you are over the age of 60, fine, you may have an argument as to why you are skeptical. But if you’re not, and I know that most of you aren’t, then there is no excuse to not have a website for your business! You cannot tell me you don’t know how to make one when there 30 million (a slight exaggeration I confess) websites that allow you to literally drag and drop your website to look exactly as you please!! Websites like Shopify, Wix, Inkjet, Weebly, Snappages, Pagecloud, Simbla. Mobirize and many (many many many) more! If you still want to stick to your guns about not knowing how to make a website, then I counter you with this: they all provide really simple to follow instructional videos that will have you up and running in no time!
Because it adds validity and legitimacy to you product / service
If I had to ask you to think of some businesses that don’t have a website, what sort of companies would they be? Let me try guess before you tell me: they are all small businesses that haven’t experienced growth for many years or are owned by someone who hasn’t experienced in physical growth (except perhaps in number of wrinkles) in years. Am I right? There is a reason (actually there are a few but bear with me) that every single house hold brand has a website and that is because a website is an online presence, a mark of validity and legitimacy in todays day and age. If two companies approached you about a particular service, however one had a website and the other did not, who would you choose?
Allows you to open a business anywhere or everywhere all over the world
The world is truly becoming a small place and you’ve seen this through social media and other online platforms. It’s the reason you live on one side of the world but enjoy the travel pictures on Instagram from the other side of the world. Make use of this and enjoy the freedom of not limiting your business to just one location. Sell your product or service to people all over the world! People have made millions like this and retired young as a result. All you need is access to the internet and your brain (fully engaged) and a whole new world of income generating possibilities will start to open up.
Another very important note to remember is this: a website may be the only platform on which you could actually compete with much larger and established businesses. You won’t be able to outdo their marketing budgets around the world, however if you can offer valuable content to their customers and create a search engine friendly and/or social media traffic supported website, then you might just find that your industries biggest competitor could be sharing traffic (not voluntarily I might add) and potential clients with you. Just food for thought…
It’s no longer all that expensive. No, really, it isn’t!
I know you’re going to say that obviously, this is a point that I would raise but wait! Hear me out! We, at Ciya Business Solutions would love to help your startup with a website, but we know that we are also not the only option out there and we genuinely are aiming to support you entrepreneurs more than anything and that is why we need to tell you this: A website is no longer an expensive startup tool! Those days are behind us, especially right in the beginning when traffic volumes to your site may be low. We listed a few drag and drop website builders earlier who provide very cost effective website hosting, domain registration and design costs. Do some research into WordPress, one of the world’s most popular blogging platforms that is also super powerful yet fairly simple!
